masterpiece mondays: parallettes
it's coming close, i've almost gained a full year at my gym as a trainer. one year, already? during the past few months my ideologies towards improving the human body and mind has evolved, refined and revolved numerous times.
two of the revelations that i've come to understand are:
1. the exercises you hate most or the training protocols you despise practicing, are probably the ones you need to do more often
- you're only as strong as your weakest link so if you hate doing something, whether that something be leg exercises, cardiovascular training or developing the posterior muscles of your body (the back, rhomboids, posterior deltoids and triceps) - the muscle that you can't appreciate in the mirror, then you should be doing more to improve these areas. do what you hate is my motto. that way you'll develop a love for them.



2. lo-technology = high intensity
i don't give a damn about the latest fitness trends out there. the most primitive equipment (jump ropes, climbing ropes, chinning bars), or lack thereof, is usually the most effective. how often do you see line ups at the chin up bar rather than the bench press? tomorrow, i'm building myself a set of parallettes, not because i miss gymnastics class from university but because they're cheap and to the point. you want true strength that actually has function in the real world, try pulling your own weight, your own bodyweight.

axelrod...what a name. is that even his real name?

for years, everyone from dr. dre to j. rocc of the beat junkies have been messing with axelrod originals. he's consulted on movie scores, tweaked whole albums of pop music and continues to compose some of the greatest jazz today.

a couple years ago, axelrod did a show at the royal festival hall in london, england. they've released a dvd of the show but if you live in toronto, good luck finding it. check out the links below after the drop.

m.m. reprise: podrunner
now i dunno if my mom needs something rocking her shuffle at 150 bpm, but i do.
i used to be a big fan of electronic music but i've recently been heavily romanticizing with jazz and hip hop. go figure.

when i workout though, i've been cross-listening to different types of music. metal...punk...funk...it all helps. just the other day however, i discovered podrunner.

podrunner is a glorious resource that people who train to a beat know all about.
it recently reached #2 on the itunes top 100 podcasts.
funny, i just heard about it myself (thanks google).

anyhow, i just loaded my shuffle with a podrunner episode called, "funkenwalken".
i was pretty skeptical at first but trust, when you're on the treadmill or on the track or even pushing around those weights, music makes all the difference.

TRAIN HARD.
it's motivation. inspiration. dedication. eternal damn nation. masturbation (??).

naw, it's really just motivation. i was just rambling there.

masterpiece mondays: the bombay boogie
asians are coming correct. and when i say "asian" don't think just chinese, japanese or KOREANESE.
asia is a big ass place and india is all up in there too.

indian folk are everywhere! down the street, at the grocer, at the urinal next to me!
i have indian friends, indian clients, an indian uncle...shoot....just the other day i was driving and an indian lady gave me the finger! wow.
as a sort of homage to my indian brothers and sisters, today's masterpiece monday is for you...you loveable brown bastards.

i love these videos.
i must've watched this at least 50x already, but oh well. i'm just mesmerized by the little superstar.
eventhough there are no laws serving as guidelines when kids should start smoking in india, rest assured, the little superstar is actually an adult...he's just smaller. with that said, don't trip when you see him puffing.
