when jewel case hinges break
i was here looking through my legitimate cd collection (as opposed to its pirated counterpart that i've stockpiled over the years) and i realize that just looking at one's cd collection says a lot about yourself. in the first of many in a series of these postings, let's take a walk through some of my more gruesome chapters:

  • royal flush's 'ghetto millionaire'
the beats on this are timeless even by today's standards but i guess that's all i can say about that. royal flush is a pretty good lyricist, i can't deny that but the content of this has me wondering what the hell i was thinking when i purchased this. it was roughly 7 or 8 years ago on boxing day at sunrise records along yonge st. downtown. maybe it was a good deal, maybe i wanted to deal cocaine back then. who the hell knows?

  • capone-n-noreaga's 'war report'
we all know n.o.r.e. but do you know his ugly homeboy capone who served time? i do and did. again....why did i want to be a thug back then? what was wrong with me? i'll still bump this secretly late at night though once in a while. i can rhyme the whole album on cue too. play this and ask me. you'll be impressed.

  • n.e.r.d.'s 'in search of...'
this cd's not bad..it's not great though. i tried playing it just now but i couldn't even get passed 1 and a half tracks, not to mention skipping track 1's "lap dance". i have mad love for filipino chad hugo (the man behind the man), but there's some kind of aversion i've developed toward pharrell. i can't put my thumb on it. i mean ok dude, you're black and you skateboard...we get it. find a new cooler gimmick...become a Christian rapper or something. sorry to have to say it, but this cd is not timeless. it's good.....but it's not great, either.

what the hell was i thinking?
more to come next time, kids.
