behind closed doors
i'm a firm believer in minding my own business. this even applies to domestic disputes; when there's a fight going down on my street between a mr. and mrs., it's really not my place to pry.

however, when there are two people screaming at the top of their lungs at 7:30 in the morning and im trying to catch some z's on my bed while the window is open, merely because i like the coolness of the night air, then it becomes my business. not so much my business in the sense that i'm gonna knock on my neighbour's door and ask them to please lower their fighting volume, but rather, that i become irritated and have to vent out through my blog; yea, that kind of my business.

it gets pretty scary on my street sometimes. i mean parents fight. my parents fight. all parents fight. and they scream, just not at the top of their lungs shattering the sound barrier. it's devastating to hear your neighbours scream but it's even more threatening to my mental health when i can't see what's going on and their screaming in a language that i can't decipher - in this case, brazilian/portugese (and previously, italian, to my left side). like what the hell happens when the screaming comes to a sudden halt and the husband comes storming out of the house? did someone just get stabbed? those kinds of questions arise. everyone has their breaking point and everyone reacts differently. mr. ramirez down the block could in fact be mr. psycho just like mr. chan 8 houses down could be mr. demento.

there should be laws against fighting this loud this early. i know we have a by-law in my city where you can't do loud, heavy duty work before 8am. you can't cut your grass or even use a leaf blower. i like that law because it's considerate and just. there should be a law about fighting before 8am. no fuckit, there should be a law about domestic arguing before 11am. nobody should start their day to that sound.

postpone your fighting and screaming to an afternoon time frame, it just doesn't fit into my agenda, lovers.
