i've been doing a lot of staying at home since summer let out. it's really my attempt at saving some extra "splurge" dollars for the trip. i gotta admit, it's been a hard transition but having the addition of digital cable to our household really hampers the experience.

friday nights have me hooked to the fight network and doc(umentary) channel. tonight however, i was glued to IFC, the indie film channel. i just finished watching "spun", a story about a crystal meth junkie dealing with heartbreak from a previous relationship. heavy, ain't it?

"spun" stars jason scharwtzman, john leguizamo, mickey rourke, mena suvari and brittany murphy. the characters are bizarre and the cinematography is a trip...sort of reminiscent of johnny depp's "fear and loathing in las vegas" except this is in california...i hope. for all you junkies, past, present and recovering, i suggest you give this flick a look.

prior to that, i caught "jesus is magic" on the doc channel. it's jewish femme fatale/comedian, sarah silverman's stand-up peppered with skits and musical montages. i have to admit, she's a fucking racist....at least i thought so at first, her humour is very dark and cynical - targeting her own jewish community, blacks, asians, handicaps and anyone breathable. it's all very intellectual though...sorta like chappelle...except not really.

maybe she is racist. wow.

whatever the case, peep "spun" and "jesus is magic" to gain some cool-like-zack points.
