i end and start my days listening to music or watching music videos on youtube. i search for all the greats and my favourites from the golden era. upon bobbing my head, it's occurred to me that there have been several instances, actually, more than several instances, when heavy basslines have been the prominent element of a hip hop joint. the stand up bass line from a classic jazz sample creates a laid back feel and flow for the m.c. it's mellowed out and slick as fuct.

here are a few instances of those heavy basslines...
repetition, my dear children. listen carefully.

["lifesaver" - guru]
"so many misconceptions...so many evil deceptions. i've come to bring direction...for i, am the lifesaver."

["soul clap" - showbiz & AG]
"i know you were told black, about the soul clap"

["time's up" - o.c.]
"you lack the minerals and vitamins...irons and the niacin."

["chief rocka" - lords of the underground]
"boomshakalaka, yo, here comes the chief rocka!"

that concludes our listening session for today.
act like you know, suckaz.
