i just spent the last 2 nights and 3 days living outdoors inside of a tent and outside of it.

coming back home to this air conditioned crib, i realize that we're getting weak. whether you like to believe it or not, since the air conditioner craze started a little over a decade ago, we've all been acclimatized to cool and often cold indoor enviroments. small children, seniors and the chronically ill exempt, we're weaklings. nobody wants to go outside during this kind of weather because it's too hot and it really is "too hot" - but that's no excuse to not go outside. there are water parks and hand fans and spots near lakeshore and oceans. shades are good and so is ice cream, freezies and of course, ice water.

now that air conditioners are increasingly becoming standard business in homes rather than luxury, it's no wonder that blackouts are commonplace, gas prices increase and that acid rain and pollution are causing glaciers to melt. im not about to get on some greenpeace preachy tip - i just wanted to do a compare and contrast between what i remember summers being like as a child and how it's changed considerably since then.

be cool.

  • 1. kp and envyi. STOOOOP! dang, brought it back to frosh year of high school for me...i don't know why, but that also made me think of the "Space Jam" soundtrack i bought around the same time. actually i should say, my mom bought for me.

    2. anderson cooper? hmmm.

    3. i feel you on the a/c tip. i don't have a/c aka aircon in my apt....so it's just an open window and my bare ass walking around. and i'm okay in this heat... i don't know what everyone's complaining about. almost as bad as people who complain about how bad they got it...my answer to them is, you don't know poor until you've been to a third world country. sheesh.

  • hahahah you think that's bad? with the humidex, yesterday it was 46 C. no joke. im not trying to pull one of those "ha, mine was worse bits", but that's the real deal. anyhow, we're all losers when the temperature hops over the 40.0 mark.
