take me across her lap, she used to whip me with a strap -- when i was bad

i don't know about you, but when i was younger i got the strap. not only the strap, but the bamboo broom, the slipper and the bare palm. psychologists of today say it's wrong to hit kids and i agree; there are much better ways to discipline your offspring (yes, i said offsping, you damn animals).

today at my workplace, a european clothing retail place with glass doors and big, fancy glass panels, a kid was running around the store like his pants were on fire. his brother chased him. they were no older than 5 or 6 and the parents didn't care; that's the sad part. while the husband and wife were trying on clothes, the kids ran around with reckless abandon. finally, the kid ran into the glass door like how birds often do towards highrise office buildings before they come tumbling down to their demise. the parents were shocked that such a thing occurred. i wasn't. watch your kids.

i'll never beat my kids. never ever...but i do feel the parents of today are way too slack. i see some of the kids today and i can't help but think, "man that kid would've got the belt in my day".

prior to this post, i was listening to some music this late night, as usual, and i came across ghostface killer's "whip you with a strap". i've always loved ghostface's writing and flow since his early-early days of venturing through the 36 chambers (wu-tang forever!). the whole song is a solid delivery but this one verse sticks out in my head, especially after today and all the days before today where i've seen kids not being disciplined enough. it goes as follows:

Hid my drawers and start cryin,
when she felt that bed
Caught another
When I told her those the fake pro-keds
In the corner weavin and screamin
trying to block my head

Nowadays kids don't get beat
They get big treats
Fresh pair of sneaks
Punishments like have a cease

- "whip you with a strap" by ghostface killa

i'm not saying hit your kids, i'm saying take care of your kids.

  • i completely agree. some parents need some serious parenting themselves. some parents really seem like they don't care, and then there are some who seem to be so concerned about the people around them that they can't reprimand their kids properly and firmly. hay naku.

as for the bamboo broom, i never got it. all i got my entire childhood was a fluffy, soft, cuddly slipper-slap-on-the-arse. i didn't really feel it but i cried like hell coz well... it's the thought that counts;p. first girl after three boys. i was always on holiday. hehe..

anyway, feel free to use my photos as your wallpaper. i can give you the original ones (higher resolution) if you want.
