so i arrive to work early on friday night.

i sell clothes by the way.

i know it sounds like a very lavish and fast paced lifestyle ladies, but hold yourself back from clawing at my fly and taking off your blouse. please. anyhow, i'm early that day so i decide to stroll around the mall for a bit. i go to the record store and check out the hip hop section.
as i'm staring at the titles, some young indian professional type asks me "you like hip hop?". he must've been surprised because i was decked out in my usual work attire - loafers, sweater vest, shirt, tie, trousers; the whole 9. anyhow, he asked me a loaded question because after that inquiry of my hip hop knowledge, we got into this conversation about the who's who of hip hop. it lasted a good 10 minutes. near the end of our talk, he asked if i was the manager of the record store. after refuting that claim of his, i had to further explain that i was nothing more than a peasant who sells clothes - just trying to make ends meet. he was impressed, i guess. maybe it was my knowledge of the culture or my gear or how i had more personality than a jar of cheez whiz. whatever the case, he offered me a job at his marketing firm before exchanging contacts with me.

i just find that so messed because that's the 2nd time i was offered a job out of the blue...and these are careers totally unrelated to anything i do or have an inkling of knowledge about.

know your assets.

  • jd: new york is a very different landscape from t.o.
im sure nobody wants to shoot you in the face, otherwise. hahahaha besides, you shouldn't talk to strangers anyhow...unless theyre very attractive females, that is; then there are exceptions to be made.

dee: isn't it awesome? i'll check out capote asap, commander! thanks.
