the phone rings.

"jay *static*, i had to call you"
"hey, what's up?"
"i just had to let you know that they have lay's...*static*"
"huh? you're breaking up."
"i have a bag of chips. lay's. lay's has curry flavour!"
"shuddup! for real?"
"yea, man. you gotta try them. my parents got them at loblaws."
"oh man, i gotta try those."

one of the dopest things about living in toronto is our idea of multiculturalism. basically, you can drive any direction in the gta (that's the "greater toronto area" for those of you who ain't down) and within ten minutes, you will have passed every kind of ethnic-cultural restaurant. we have pockets and enclaves of every kind of immigrant and our streets show it.

now, thankfully, our shelves are representing too.
truth be told -- we can all live in harmony just like our chips and food can live side by side on the shelves.

[aside: to my american and international readers, if ever in canada, you MUST try ketchup flavoured chips and dill pickle - both originated here]

lay's potato chips in wasabi and curry flavours are now available in toronto and vancouver (as a pilot marketing project while supplies last -- make them stay!!!!).

  • hmmm...curry lays??? I'm a bit hesitant about that. I'd give the wasabi ones a try though...maybe they'll be as good as those wasabi peas.

  • I find curry an acquired taste not to mention the smell is overpowering. However, I do indulge in a curry dish once in a while, in some instances I even cook it myself. I just prefer curry when it is mixed with coconut milk...the Thai way I guess.
