peeps: phil koeghan

it's official, the answer to my lingering question since last season and especially over the last few weeks has been answered.
"WHEN THE HELL IS THE NEXT SEASON OF THE AMAZING RACE STARTING??!!!"

well, it starts on september 24th on OLN (outdoor life network) here in canada but i'm sure CBS will start airing a day or two earlier.

today's installment of my "peeps" isn't about the amazing race though, it's about the show's host, phil koeghan. upon watching the show, i wondered, "who the hell is this guy and what makes him the dude?"

it turns out that phil, for years, has been a worldly traveller and adventurer - something that we should all aspire to do and be. but it goes a little deeper than that. phil is much more than some backpack lifer turned rich t.v. personality; phil was faced with a near-death experience at a very early age and since then, he's decided to not only talk the "carpe diem" lifestyle but to actually live it.

You are 25 metres below the ocean, scuba diving for the first time.

After following your guide into an old sunken ship, suddenly, you lose sight of him. You are lost, running out of air. You taste fear in the back of your throat.

You reflect on your life, the accomplishments, regrets, past memories, things you had always wanted to do yet never got around to doing.

As the air drains out of your tank, you become disoriented. You lose consciousness, all becomes black.

What would you do?

If you were Phil Koeghan, host of The Amazing Race, after regaining consciousness back on the surface, you would
(read on...)

in an upcoming show on the CBC, phil koeghan wants people all over the world to have a "NOW" (no opportunity wasted) experience in their life. the reality show will force a sense of self-introspect in all of us forcing us to question, "why am i doing what i'm doing"?

we all have our own personal dreams and goals but do we actively chase them or do we get caught up with work, school, family or cutting our toenails?

in each episode of "NOW", phil will be the catalyst in making people face their fears and achieve their life's goals. there will be no room for excuses.

did you ever dream of deep sea diving but never had the time to? maybe it was the money? maybe it was no vacation time. whatever the case, phil makes it happen and the end result is living.

i thought koeghan was a pretty cool host, rocking his leather blazers and what not, but after doing a bit more digging into what he was all about, he's now become one of my role models. thanks, phil.

who knows...maybe i'll meet him in the amazing race or "NOW" experience one day.
